The Big Read, a celebration of one book and the life of its writer, kicks-off in the Bronx with a read aloud and a book giveaway of Fahrenheit 451, hosted by Baron Ambrosia, of BronxNets Bronx Flavor and star of the Cooking Channels The Culinary Adventures of Baron Ambrosia.

This event opens 8 weeks of writing, reading, bookmaking, dreaming and talking about, Fahrenheit 451, by the beloved writer, Ray Bradbury. In this classic novel about a world off kilter, firemen set fire to books.

Come for a free copy and stand up for reading, writing and the community of the Bronx.
Snacks will be served. Books will be offered in English and in Spanish. All ages welcome. Invite friends, family, teachers and students.

The Bronx Writers Center supports and develops the appetite for writing and reading in the Bronx. The BWC searches for and promotes new voices and audiences and engages the community in literary and literacy programs.

This years The Big Read in the Bronx is presented as part of the Bronx Council on the Arts‘ 50th anniversary celebration. The anniversary celebration year runs through December 2013 with a series of programming, events and community presence. BCA is a private, nonprofit membership organization and is the official cultural agency of the Bronx. Recognized nationally as a leading arts service organization that provides grants, cultural services and programming, BCA offers a wide array of services to Bronx-based artists as well as arts and community-based organizations.
